Google wants to kick Flash Player

According to the plan of Google Groups, HTML5 will be the standard technology that will be used in Chrome this fall. This applies to any content of a website.

Google will continue to ship Flash Player with Chrome, if any site requires Flash, a prompt will appear at the top of the page when open that site, it will ask users if they’re okay with allowing Flash to run for that site.

Selected option will be remembered, so each time you visit that page, Flash will be included.

Google will agree with using Flash content only for the top 10 websites in the World.

Those sites currently are:

YouTube.com, Facebook.com, Yahoo.com, VK.com, Live.com, Yandex.ru, OK.ru, Twitch.tv, Amazon.com, Mail.ru. But this will expire after one year.

What Google say about that

While Flash historically has been critical for rich media on the web,

today in many cases HTML5 provides a more integrated media experience with faster load times and lower power consumption.

This change reflects the maturity of HTML5 and its ability to deliver an excellent user experience.

We will continue to work closely with Adobe and other browser vendors to keep moving the web platform forward, in particular paying close attention to web gaming.
