Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Released On April 21th. Canonical launch version 16.04 of its Ubuntu Linux distribution, Xenial Xerus, the new long-term-support version of the project. As the name suggests, long-term support versions of Ubuntu get, long-term support, a guaranteed 5 years from April 21th. to be precise.
Support lifespan
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS will be supported for 5 years for Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Core, and Ubuntu Kylin. All other flavours will be supported for 3 years.
The version of Ubuntu is now available to download.
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS adds new “snap” application package format, enabling further convergence across IOT, mobile and desktop. A world class cloud and container computing platform and much more.
