Sorry we couldn’t connect to Skype
Sorry we couldn’t connect to Skype
“You updated the latest version of Skype and now getting a message that says Sorry, we couldn’t connect to Skype. please check your internet connection.
keep hitting retry but nothing changes. It was working fine until the update and now can’t even log into the program.”
If you look at this message “Sorry we couldn’t connect to Skype”. This happened on the Windows XP operating system.
This is because the new version of skype is associated with “Internet Explorer” and doesn’t work on “Internet Explorer 6 “.
But we have solutions for this problem
This is because we need Internet Explorer 7 or higher.
You can download Internet Explorer here
Download: Extract then install. If you download install then restart your computer and everything will be okay.
Or you can try another way. If first doesn’t work
Reset Internet Explorer settings. *
With the resetting Internet Explorer, you restore your browser settings to default, where it was when the first time is installed on the PC.
Click the gear icon at the top right corner and choose Internet Options like this on the picture.
Then at the Advanced tab press the Reset button.
After this (Will asks: Are you sure you want to reset all Internet Explorer settings?). Then make sure that you check the Delete Personal Settings checkbox and press Reset.
And close Internet Explorer and start again to restart your browser.
Try to connect to Skype again.
We hope that this article “Sorry we couldn’t connect to Skype” would be helpful for you.

Try again to reinstall IE8 but check and update box when you install IE8 may have some missing file.
hey,I am running IE 6.0 on an new, updated Windows-XP box. Every attempt to get Skype working failed. I tried about 5 or 6 versions, as most recent versions could not connect. Just start IE (version 6.0 is OK), and select “Tools” option, and “Internet Options” at bottom of that dropdown menu. Then, after clicking on “Internet Options”, select the “Advanced” tab, and scroll down to the very bottom, and click to put a checkmark in “Use TLS 1.00”, and then click “Apply” button. That is *all* that is needed. Most IE applications on Windows-XP only have “Use SSL 2.0” and “Use SSL 3.0” clicked. You need the TLS option also checked. After you apply that change, you can exit IE 6.0 and go back to using Firefox or whatever.
This fix lets you run Skype 7.x on your Windows-XP box.
